英語で「頭が真っ白になる」は何と言う？go blank の意味と使い方

　今回ワードは”go blank”です。日本人もよく使う「頭が真っ白になる」（動詞）ことを言いますが、その他にも「頭が真っ白な状態」であることを表す、’My mind is blank.’（形容詞)、’My mind is a complete blank.’（名詞）のような表現もあります。その他にも類似表現として”Draw a blank”、”Blank out”、”hit a mental block”、”Zone out”（精神的に無関心になったり、集中力を失ったりすること）等、様々な表現があり、これらは自ら使わないまでも、合わせて覚えて置けば、英語共感力は更に高められます。

💡 接待・ガイドのヒント： ガイド中に固有名詞が出てこなくなった時、黙り込んでしまうとゲストは不安になります。そんな時は、”I’m sorry, my mind just went blank for a second.” と笑顔で言えば、「あるあるだよね」と場が和み、信頼関係を維持できます。

💡「For the life of me」の強調： 例文（日本語1）にある「どうしても思い出せなかった」に対応する “for the life of me” は、非常にネイティブらしい強調表現なので、セットで覚えると共感度がさらに上がります。
