- 今から2世紀ほど前、「遊郭」と呼ばれる板塀に囲まれた集団歓楽街として誕生しました。
- 贅沢な生活の蔓延を恐れた時の地元政府が隔離する為にこの街の外れに集約させました
- 様々な芸者、支配人、サポートスタッフがここに住み、この歓楽街の客を楽しませることに専念していました。

- Visitors can still enjoy geisha performances at select teahouses, just as people did in the past, while also trying on kimono, savoring sake, wagashi (traditional Japanese sweets), and matcha (powdered green tea), and participating in a gold leaf crafting class.
- In the evening, locals enjoy geisha performances at exclusive teahouses or spend time drinking at Japanese-style restaurants and bars.
- No one, including geishas, lives here. Everyone commutes from home, much like modern businesspeople.
